Entry to Batam

Welcome to Batam city island,

Batam city island is an industrial hub with electronics factories, a large and growing ship repair industry and an even larger oil service sector. Many expats head here for work as Batam itself is the only city island incubator where the Indonesia’s government test new economic policies and ideas (China’s SEZ’s /Special Economic Zones is actually a copycat version of Batam to Indonesia). Several amenities and hospitality industry such as malls, hospital, hotels, pubs and golf courses have sprung up to serve them.

Located only 20km from Singapore and 25km from Johor in Malaysia, Batam city island is convenient for most tourists and visitors, come from Singapore or from nearby Malaysia. Adjacent to Batam, there is a Bintan island on the eastern cost. Bintan is popular as a family and upscale resort; whilst, the main lure on Batam is the discounted shopping, affordable resort and the nightlife.

However, the new government policy of public banning of gambling activities has led casinos, strip club, and the red light district aren’t quite as in your face as they used to be.
